About Mark
Mark Kreidler’s first book, the nationally acclaimed Four Days to Glory, was praised by the New York Times as “extraordinary” for its portraits of the small-town sporting life that are “as incisive as those in Buzz Bissinger’s Friday Night Lights.” It was optioned for film and television development by ESPN.
His second book, Six Good Innings, is an intimate account of one summer in the life of a town that takes its Little League baseball seriously – so seriously, in fact, that anything short of an appearance at the World Series by its young stars is considered a disappointment. In a starred review, Booklist called the book “a genuine feel-good saga … fascinating, warm and decidedly entertaining.” Six Good Innings is currently in discussion as a television series.
Mark’s next book, Heavy Waves, is in research and will be published by W.W. Norton & Co. Also in process is Good Glove, a Young Adult work of fiction.
A longtime writer and columnist, Mark’s work has been repeatedly honored, including his past recognition as one of the Top 10 sports journalists in America. His company, Kreidler Communications, offers a full range of writing and consulting options to companies and individuals in the public eye. A contributor to both ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, he has appeared on hundreds of television and radio programs across the country. Mark’s speeches and lectures have put him before corporate groups, private clubs and university students, and his books have been read, taught and discussed at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels.
Born in Texas, raised in Oklahoma, Mark lives in Northern California with his wife, Colleen, and sons Patric and Ryan. Contact him at mark@markkreidler.com.
